Palestinian Presidency Condemns Official Israeli Incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency Nabil Abu Rudeina, described today hard-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's incursion this morning into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem as a blatant attack on the holy site that will have serious consequences.

"Attempts by Itamar Ben Gvir and his likes of extremists to change the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque are condemned and rejected and will fail. Our Palestinian people will be on the lookout for them," said Abu Rudeineh in a press statement, carried by Palestine's news agency (WAFA).

The presidential spokesman said "extremist Ben-Gvir's incursion at an early hour, like thieves, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards will not change the reality and will not impose Israeli sovereignty over it." He pointed out that Ben-Gvir's incursion into the holy site necessitates immediate action from the international community, particularly the US administration, which in order to preserve the status quo in Jerusalem.

"Harming Al-Aqsa Mosque is playing with fire, and will push the region into a religious war with unimaginable consequences that will affect everyone," he concluded.
