General

Manama, Bahrain joins Saudi Arabia in celebrating its National Day on September 23 each year. This year’s national day comes under the theme “We Dream and Achieve,” marking the 94th anniversary of the Kingdom’s unification under the leadership of King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud.

This occasion comes as Saudi Arabia enjoys continued prosperity, development, and growth under the wise leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

Bahrain and Saudi Arabia maintain strong and enduring ties, built on deep historical foundations, mutual respect, and fruitful cooperation. Under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, these relations have been strengthened through numerous achievements and partnerships that advance the common interests of both nations and their people.

Sh
ared Vision for the Future

Bahrain, both its leadership and people, consistently shares in Saudi Arabia’s national celebrations. This is a reflection of the close bonds and historic ties between the two countries. It is also an ode to the remarkable achievements and rapid development that Saudi Arabia has witnessed in recent years, underlining its political, economic, security, and social stability, which have positioned the Kingdom for continued progress and leadership.

Bahrain and Saudi Arabia share a unified vision for the future. Bahrain was one of the first countries in the region to launch its national development vision, inspired by the foresight of His Majesty King Hamad. This vision has driven comprehensive development over the past 25 years, focusing on economic and social growth and enhancing regional and international peace through balanced diplomatic and political efforts.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, launched in 2016 by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Azi
z Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, aims to harness the Kingdom’s strategic advantages, including its prominent global standing, leading investment capabilities, and its Arab and Islamic heritage.

Eight years into Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has made significant progress toward its goals, focusing on creating a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation. The Kingdom’s leadership has successfully balanced national interests with achieving its ambitious vision, delivering transformative mega-projects that benefit not only Saudi Arabia but the entire region.

Advancing Development and Sustainability

Economic projects and sustainability initiatives remain at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. This includes addressing climate and environmental challenges, investing in renewable energy, and achieving sustainable development goals. Saudi Arabia has surpassed many of its Vision 2030 targets ahead of schedule.

According to Saudi Ara
bia’s 2023 annual report, Vision 2030 continued its transformative efforts, particularly in 2023 and the first half of 2024, with notable growth in key areas. The non-oil sectors reached a historic contribution of 50% to the Kingdom’s GDP, while the unemployment rate among Saudi citizens fell to a record low of 7.7%.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 has also strengthened its regional and global standing, deepening political, military, and geopolitical partnerships to ensure security and stability, which are essential for sustainable development.

Recognising the impact of climate change, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the Green Middle East Initiative in 2021, a regional alliance aimed at combating climate challenges and promoting sustainable development. This initiative has garnered support from over 50 countries and provides a roadmap for accelerating climate action through reforestation and carbon emissions reduction.

Saudi Arabia is also leading efforts to stimulate the global hydrogen
economy and address climate challenges through innovative projects such as the Saudi Green Initiative, Riyadh Green, and the Kingdom’s first low-energy research reactor, which aims to diversify the economy and energy sources while confronting climate change.

As Saudi Arabia celebrates its 94th National Day, it reaffirms that smart planning, investment in human capital, and the effective use of resources are the keys to achieving sustainable development and prosperity.
