WAM Abu Dhabi, 5 Jan. 2013 (WAM) — Up to 2nd January 2013, 9,453 out of 20,391 over-staying applicants from 106 countries have departed the country since the two-month grace period announced on 4 December 2012, a top Ministry of Interior (MoI) officer disclosed today.

Dr. Abdullah bin Sahou, Director General of Residency and Foreign Affairs’ Department in Sharjah and head of the amnesty media committee, appealed to violators of the federal law on entry and residence of foreigners to report to the nearest centre to process their departure transactions without fines or contact the free toll number 8005111 for detailed information about the required documents.

He also urged the media institutions to shed light on the amnesty as one of the major community-driven initiatives.

He affirmed the MoI would receive voluntary applicants with convenience and streamline their departure transactions with ease.
