The National Archives of Qatar participated in the Memory of the World Global Policy Forum organized by UNESCO in Paris, France.
During the forum, Secretary-General of the National Archives of Qatar Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain emphasized the importance of international cooperation in sharing expertise to protect documentary heritage and raise awareness about the need to safeguard it from risks, particularly in the face of increasing digital preservation challenges.
Al Buainain highlighted the State of Qatars efforts to protect its documentary archive, including audiovisual documents, which contribute to promoting Qatari identity and affirming its place within the global heritage system. Qatars participation in the forum underscores the central role of documentary heritage in fostering international understanding and cooperation, while also reflecting the country’s continuous efforts to support and protect historical archives that document key phases of Qatars history and contribute to the preservation of
national and cultural identity on a global scale.
