In addition, the conference would discuss the key efforts and advancements of the Qatari civil aviation sector and its vital role in enhancing Qatar’s position worldwide. The sessions would also highlight the role of the transportation sector in Qatar in supporting the business community and commercial, industrial, logistics, and private sectors, in light of the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The MOT pointed out that the accompanying exhibition would provide an ideal platform for exhibiting entities and companies to showcase their latest technologies and shed light on the latest trends and technological innovations in the field of sustainable transport. The ministry said that its event is sponsored by 9 entities: Qatar Airways Group, Mwani Qatar and Qatar National Bank (QNB) as Strategic Sponsors, Qatar Rail and QTerminals Group as Platinum Sponsors, Mowasalat (Karwa) as a Gold Sponsor, Fusion Group Holding as a Silver Sponsor, and Milaha and Al Abdulghani Motors as Bronze Sponsors.

Marking the occasion, MOT Acting Assistant Undersecretary of Land Transport Eng. Hamad Issa Abdullah told Qatar News Agency that the “Sustainable Transportation and Legacy for Generations” Conference and Exhibition includes many positive aspects that bring together companies in the land transport sector under one umbrella with the ministries and agencies participating in the conference. This would provide an opportunity to discuss all the innovations that we have reached during the last period, present all the technologies of the companies, and review all the discussions about what we would offer to future generations in terms of clean, sustainable energy, ways to preserve the environment and safety rules.

Eng. Hamad Issa Abdullah highlighted to QNA that Qatar, as a pioneering state, used clean energy in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 bus fleet, at rates ranging between 25 and 30 percent, making Qatar the first country to take such a step in the history of the FIFA World Cup tournaments. He pointed out that the ministry has developed a comprehensive program for the transformation (half and full) of electric buses and regular vehicles.

Regarding the process of preserving the environment, Abdullah noted the large shift that has been made to diesel fuel over the past period within certain figures to reduce harmful carbon emissions and impurities in the environment.

In a related context, during his speech at the press conference, Eng. Hamad Issa Abdullah said that his event aims at exchanging expertise, discussing views, and presenting perspectives and thoughts with our partners concerned with developing the transportation and mobility sector, as well as highlighting the sector’s new trends. It also aims at highlighting the latest developments in the transportation and mobility industry; land, maritime, and air, and key plans and strategies for comprehensive and gradual transitioning to an integrated, sustainable, and ecofriendly transit system. He stressed that success can’t be achieved with a single entity’s efforts, but rather is the fruit of the work and cooperation of multiple entities, authorities, institutions, and companies from both public and private sectors, who have the same goal and vision to improve lifestyle in the State of Qatar.

For her part, MOT’s Public Relations and Communication Department Director Lolan Abdulaziz Al Jassim said the event is seeing a large participation from several entities and companies as the number of participants exceeded 30 entities representing government ministries and agencies and the private sector, in addition to transportation and mobility entities, consulting firms working in Qatar and national and international companies.
