WAM KUWAIT, 19th November, 2013 (WAM) — Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received Pierre Nkurunziza, President of the Republic of Burundi, today, on the sidelines of the Third Africa- Arab Summit, which is being held in Kuwait.
H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the U.A.E. and the Republic of Burundi in a number of areas, particularly in sustainable energy projects, tourism and infrastructure.
The Burundian President expressed his country’s desire to build bridges of cooperation between the two countries and the possibility that his country can benefit from the experience of the U.A.E and its successful experience in these sectors, which Burundi seeks to developed to benefit from the experience of the United Arab Emirates.
The Burundian President also explained the potential available for investment in his country, especially in the mining sector and natural resources.
Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the idea of opening new channels of communication with Burundi and assist in the development of its infrastructure and achieve its sustainable development.
On the sideline of the Summit, Sheikh Mohammed also received Mackey Sall, the Senegalese President, when they exchanged views on ways to enhance bilateral relations between the U.A.E. and the Republic of Senegal.
The Senegalese President expressed his hopes to develop prospects of cooperation between the two countries so as to include the fields of infrastructure, investment and tourism.
Sheikh Mohammed also received H.H. Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, Representative of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, the head of delegation to the summit.
At the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed And Al Said exchanged cordial talks about the fraternal relations between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed a number of issues related to the Third Africa- Arab Summit.
The meetings was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Lt. General Misbah bin Rashid Al Fattan, Director of the Office of the Vice-President, the Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhaheri, U.A.E. Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Deputy Permanent Representative of the U.A.E. to the League of Arab States and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai.
