Racing for the silks of Mohamed Bin Fahad Al Attiyah, MISS BOUM AL MAURY (FR) (Boum de Ghazal x Melody Al Maury) was back in the winners’ enclosure in the Prix Kann for four-year-old Purebred Arabians over 2,100 meters at Dax, France, on Sunday, 13 September. She came to this race off a solid third place in a Listed race last time out, at the beginning of this month, at San Sebastian, Spain. A tough filly, she has raced five times this year despite the lockdown, winning two races and placed on all her other starts, including two in Stakes company.
Fourteen runners lined up for the Prix Kann and it was HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s CARACOLE DU LOUP (Josco Du Cayrou x Sirene Du Loup) who took lead in the early stages. The competition intensified among the runners at the final turn and in the middle of the straight, MISS BOUM AL MAURY came with a swooping dash from the outside to join the leaders and take the lead. The bay filly held the challenge of the other runners at bay to win by a length with Lily Le Pemp in the saddle for trainer Mrs JF Bernard. NIJINSKI AL MAURY (Amer x Nemosie Al Maury) was the runner-up, securing a one-two for the winning owner Mohamed Bin Fahad Al Attiyah. He is trained by Thomas Fourcy and was ridden by Jerome Cabre. Just as the case was earlier on the day, the frame was dominated by Qatari owners with Al Shaqab Racing’s homebred AJAWEED (FR) (Al Mamun Monlau x Haija) finishing third only a further head behind. She is trained by Thomas Fourcy as well and was ridden by Mickael Forest.
Both the winner, MISS BOUM AL MAURY, and the runner-up, NIJINSKI AL MAURY, are owned by Mohamed Bin Fahad Al Attiyah and were bred by Ms Renée-Laure Koch.
