MIKATI CHAIRS CABINET SESSION, WELCOMES JAPANESE AND GERMAN DIPLOMATS

Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, is currently chairing a cabinet session at the Grand Serail over the 2023 state budget. Earlier on Wednesday, Mikati welcomed Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yamada Kenji, in the presence of Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, Masayuki Magoshi, with whom he discussed the best means to bolster relations and cooperation between Lebanon and Japan. For his part, Mikati thanked Japan for the assistance it’s been providing to refugees and host communities. He also requested of the Japanese minister to support Lebanon at the Security Council, especially with regard to the renewal of UNIFIL forces’ mandate in Lebanon. Mikati separately met with German Ambassador to Lebanon, Andreas Kindl, who paid him a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Lebanon.
