MAWLAWI CALLS FOR UNITED ARAB EFFORTS AT SECOND BAGHDAD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DRUG CONTROL

Caretaker Interior Minister, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, on Monday stressed the need for united efforts among Arab ministries and security agencies at the "Second Baghdad International Conference on Drug Control', attended by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani. 'Our Arab security and the safety of our Arab communities are shared,' Mawlawi emphasized. Highlighting the sophistication of modern crime, Mawlawi called for regular meetings to discuss ways to establish security. Moreover, the Interior Minister praised Lebanese security forces for their achievements in drug interdiction despite limited resources, noting large seizures and major trafficker arrests. He detailed successful international collaborations in arrests and controlled deliveries. Mawlawi then highlighted ongoing efforts at Lebanese ports and airports to intercept drug shipments intended for Arab countries and the fight against drug manufacturing and trafficking, particularly captagon, at the Lebanese-Syrian border.
