Marketing and Communications Director to QNA: QFA Keen on Participating in Organization of Football Events during Ramadan

Director of Marketing and Communications at the Qatar Football Association (QFA) Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari affirmed the QFA's keenness to actively participate in organizing football events during the blessed month of Ramadan, considering that this stems from the social responsibility to which the QFA always attaches great importance through many programs adopted to enhance the concept of communication with the community and support the practice of sports in general and football in particular as part of the country's vision 2030.

In an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency , Khalid Al Kuwari said that the QFA's role in football activity during the holy month is embodied in participating in organizing three of the most important Ramadan football tournaments, on top of which is the Saleh Saqr tournament, one of the oldest tournaments in Qatar, as well as Al Kass tournament that has become very popular with wide participation, and Ramadan Press Championship, an annual event for media men.

He stressed that the QFA is one of the leading federations in terms of social responsibility by adopting programs that have achieved many continental, regional and local awards such as "Koora Time" program, which achieved the Asian Dream award and the best initiative award in the field of social responsibility. This success comes from the great support given to community programs from HE QFA President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani and the Board of Directors of the QFA.

Al Kuwari pointed out that the QFA builds bridges of communication with many community institutions through its various activities, including continuous visits to the Orphan Care Center (Dreama) and the Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs as well as visits to children in Al-Amal Cancer Hospital, in addition to the great interest in students in schools and universities. The QFA organizes a special league for schools and another for universities, in addition to leagues for different communities, he said, adding it is possible that the organization of these leagues coincides with the blessed month of Ramadan in the coming years, noting all that the QFA undertakes is a confirmation that it is part of society that must communicate with civil society institutions in order to achieve integration between all sectors.

On the Qatari presence in the continental committees after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) approved the appointment of ten Qatari cadres and representatives of the QFA within the permanent committees in the new session 2023-2027, Al Kuwari said the presence of an elite of Qatari competencies in the continental committees comes as an extension of the Qatari presence at the international level, noting the presence of HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani as a member of the FIFA Council, and Hani Ballan, the vice-chairman of the referees committee in the international federation, who was named chairman of the referees committee in the AFC for the next session until 2027 after he was vice-chairman in past years.

He added that the AFC Sheikh appointed Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Thani to the membership of the AFC Associations Committee, while Mansour Muhammad Al Ansari as a member of the AFC Finance Committee, Dr. Abdulaziz Jaham Al Kuwari to the membership of the AFC Medical Committee, Fahad Thani Al Zaraa was appointed for membership in the AFC Technical Committee, Talal Muhammad Al Kaabi was appointed to the membership of the AFC Development Committee, and Dana Muhammad Al Nuaimi was appointed to the membership of the AFC Legal Committee, among others.

Al Kuwari went on to say that this active presence, the largest in terms of the number of members joining the AFC, confirms the great position that Qatari cadres and competencies have reached at the sports level, as Qatar now has high administrative expertise at the level of sports leadership, which is one of the most important gains from hosting and organizing tournaments and sporting events that the State of Qatar witnessed during the past decades, culminating in the historic hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in addition to many programs and initiatives presented by Qatari sports in general and football in particular.

Al Kuwari concluded by affirming QFA's continuing its active role in society through various activities and organizing tournaments that ensure linking football to various segments, while the focus during the coming period in marketing aspects will be on continuing promotional campaigns coinciding with the 2023 Asian Cup finals that Doha will host in 2024.
