Libya Puts Back Trial of Gaddafi Regime Members

Tripoli, May 25 (QNA) – A Tripoli court ordered a fresh delay Sunday in the trial of 40 top figures from late Muammar Gadhafi’s regime, including his son Seif al-Islam.

The prosecution demanded that the trial be delayed to June 22 to prepare the indictment. The defence had also requested a new delay in the trial and demanded access to the accused, who also include Gadhafi’s former spy chief Abdullah Senussi.

They have been charged over their roles in suppressing the 2011 uprising that eventually toppled Gaddafi’s regime.

All the defendants are accused of murder, kidnapping, complicity in incitement to rape, plunder, sabotage, embezzlement of public funds and acts harmful to national unity.(QNA)
