Large turnout and high demand in Broodmare and Foal Auction

38 lots and AL AMARAH got highest bid

The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) organised an auction for broodmares and foals on Friday, 10 December at the arena opposite the QREC Grandstand. Mares who have retired to stud following good racing career were on display as they are usually targeted for breeding. Filly and colt foals of well-known pedigrees were also there as they always attract buyers who look for young horses who can be prepared to be future stars.

A total of 38 lots came up for sale, which attracted many owners and trainers, who were looking for promising foals as well as broodmares. Baida Algaa Farm’s Purebred Arabian broodmare AL AMARAH (QR) (Djendel x Desirada) got the highest bid of QAR 180,000 and was purchased by Jassim Bin Hamad Al Attiya. The five-year-old chestnut mare is infoal to Al Shaqab Racing’s stallion MISTER GINOUX

The Auction was perfectly produced with excellent organisation following the intensive preparations, which QREC initiated since late October when the Auction was announced and the entries were open between 7 and 11 November.

The Broodmare and Foal Auction came as part of the series of auctions, which have been organised by QREC this season and will continue throughout the season with other auctions for various categories of horses.
