King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Chairman lauds royal pardon

Manama, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, lauded the royal decree issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, pardoning 457 inmates in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty’s Accession.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah noted that this royal initiative reinforces the values of pardon, tolerance, justice, and the rule of law, integrating pardoned individuals into the development process and enhancing family stability in the society, safeguarding its security, and ensuring its prosperity.

He praised the government’s efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and Prime Minister, in implementing the royal initiatives and cooperating with the legislative and judicial authorities as well as human rights institutions. He pointed to Bahrain’s leading role in applying modern legislation and programmes,
including the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and the Open Prisons Programme.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah also expressed the Centre’s pride in His Majesty’s vision of respecting human rights and promoting values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and social cohesion. He emphasised the Centre’s commitment to continuing its initiatives at local, regional, and international levels to spread a culture of peace and combat extremism and hatred, aiming for peaceful and just societies.
