King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Chairman celebrates launching Muslim Council of Elders new branch

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, participated in the celebration organised by the Muslim Council of Elders on the inauguration of the Council’s branch in Kazakhstan, on the sidelines of his participation in the 21st Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed said that the opening of the new branch in the Central Asian region represented a new platform for inter-faith and cultural dialogue and communication with a region characterised by a long history and cultural heritage.

He expressed his appreciation to His Eminence Grand Imam Shaikh of al Azhar Dr. Ahmed al Tayyib, the Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, for his efforts in utilising religious discourse to create awareness and a culture of mutual respect.

The Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence praised the strong partnership between the centre and the council, especially in the field of consolidating the principle of tolerance, building capabilities, and launching programs and projects.

He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to support humanitarian causes, build cultural understanding, and promote centrism and moderation through various initiatives that embody the approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed emphasised the centre’s commitment to fostering dialogue, building trust, and tolerance among religions, and promoting Bahrain’s model of tolerance and freedom, calling for more solidarity to reach a world capable of rejecting differences, conflicts and discrimination forms and terrorism of all kinds.
