KHGC Chairman meets USCIRF Chairman

Washington, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence (KHGC), met with Dr. Stephen F. Schneck, Chairman of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment, under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s leadership, to strengthening US cooperation and international partnerships, promoting peace, religious freedom, and global coexistence for a secure and prosperous future.

He reviewed the royal vision, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on promoting respect for religious and cultural diversity.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla acknowledged the establishment of the King Hamad Award for Peaceful Coexistence and HM the King’s call for an international agreement to criminalise religious, sectarian, and racial hate speech.

He emphasised the centre’s ongoing efforts to empower youth and
promote community awareness of noble human values through academic and training programmes. These initiatives are carried out in partnership with the United Nations University for Peace, the Gioya Higher Education Institution in Malta, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and other international academic institutions.

The programmes are in line with the principles of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Declaration on freedom of religion and belief, showcasing Bahrain’s enduring legacy as a model of harmony and fraternity.

On his part, Dr. Schneck commended the Kingdom’s efforts and KHGC’s initiatives in spreading the culture of peace and respect at various local, regional, and international levels. He wished the Kingdom and its people continued progress and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Alsadig Omer Khalafalla, a member of the Board of Trustees of KHGC.
