Iraq, NATO Discuss Developing Cooperation in Training, Consulting Fields

Iraqi Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed on Sunday with the new commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) mission in Iraq Lieutenant General Jose Antonio ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, Al Shammari expressed his country’s desire to continue developing cooperation with NATO, especially in the training and consulting fields.

For his part, Antonio noted the great interest given by the Baghdad authorities to cooperate with NATO and develop its bilateral relations.

For over two years, a non-combat NATO mission has been present in Iraq to provide training and advice to local security institutions and structures.
