Injaaz Stud’s QAWAAFI wins Ain Sinan Cup

The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) organised the 11th race meeting in the 2021-22 season calendar of the Al Uqda Racecourse on Wednesday, 2 February. The six-race card day was run on dirt and was wrapped up with the feature event, Ain Sinan Cup, a Handicap (0-75) for 4YO+ Local Thoroughbreds. The Cup was landed by Injaaz Stud’s QAWAAFI (QA) (Mukhadram x Fashion Rocks), who proved the best by three quarters of a length in the 2200m contest. The Zuhair Mohsen-trained 5YO mare under Soufiane Saadi went one better when she was last seen. It was a brilliant one-two in the colours of Injaaz Stud with MUTAMARRID (QA) (Youmzain) finishing second for trainer Julian Smart and jockey Marco Casamento, a length in front of the Al Jeryan Stud-owned and Mohammed Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah-trained AL BURAQ (QA) (Nathaniel), who was ridden by Szczepan Mazur.

Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, crowned the winners after the final race of the day.

RANDOM DECISION

In the penultimate race, Khaled Ali Al Shahwani’s RANDOM DECISION (GB) (Exceed and Excel x Connote) won the 1200m Handicap (0-80) for 3YO+ Thoroughbred by half a length for trainer Owaida Salem Al Hajri. Faleh Bughanaim was the man in the saddle.

SHAMS AL NAHAR

In the fourth race in the card, Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s homebred SHAMS AL NAHAR (QA) (AF AlBahar x Bint Al Ajwad) doubled her tally, winning the 1300m Handicap (0-75) for 4YO+ Purebred Arabian by three and a half lengths under Eduardo Pedroza for trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed.

KHATTAB DE FAUST

In the colours of Abdulla Bin Mohammed Al Attiya, KHATTAB DE FAUST (FR) (Mared Al Sahra x Nodaia) excelled in the Maiden for 4-6YO Purebred Arabians. Pranil Arvind rode the Ahmed Kobeissi-saddled 6YO to a three and a half length win in the 2000m run.

AJS JALLAAD

In the second race of the day, Al Jeryan Stud’s homebred AJS JALLAAD (QA) (Australia x Booker got off the mark, ) on his second start in Qatar, with an impressive seven- and three-quarter length victory in the 1300m Maiden for 3YO Local Thoroughbreds. Mohammed Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah’s ward was ridden by Szczepan Mazur.

HI MEH DARLING

The Abdullah Mohammed Al Kuwari & Sons-owned HI MEH DARLING (IRE) (Holy Roman Emperor x Passionforfashion) started the day with a cosy half-length win in the opener, a 1300m Handicap (0-65) for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds for trainer Jassim Ghazali and jockey David Allan.
