Information Minister participates in GCC Information Ministers meeting

Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, participated in the 27th meeting of Information Ministries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Qatar.

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Media Corporation.

Dr. Al Noaimi affirmed the importance of developing media cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and coordination within the strategic plan for joint media cooperation of the GCC countries (2023-2023). This strategic plan aims to strengthen the role of the Gulf media in protecting the interests of the GCC countries and bolstering the pillars of their security and stability.

The minister said that the Gulf media message holds a significant responsibility in this delicate period in the region’s history and the importance of strengthening joint solidarity.

The minister highlighted the meeting’s importance in developing Gulf media by discussing and finalising previous projects, agreeing on recommendations, and staying
updated on digital and artificial intelligence advancements.

Dr. Al Noaimi affirmed the kingdom’s efforts in promoting media cooperation between Bahrain and GCC countries, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He expressed Bahrain’s readiness to host the 54th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers from May 27-29, following the successful organisation of the 33rd Arab Summit under the leadership of HM King Hamad. The summit resulted in decisions and recommendations on Arab affairs, covering politics, economics, security, and encouraging cooperation.

The minister underscored Bahrain’s media initiatives aimed at bolstering cooperation among Arab media professionals, and exchanging expertise, which aim at strengthening the media sector regionally, in light of Manama’s designation as the Capital of Arab Media for 2024.

The meeting discussed various topics, including establ
ishing guidelines for online advertisements on social media platforms in GCC countries and developing a media strategy to advocate morals, social values, Gulf identity, and digital safety for children in the region.

The meeting discussed the production of a collaborative radio drama, creating radio programmes aimed at the youth interested in technology and the digital economy, and producing joint television programmes.
