In cooperation with QCDC, Qatar Charity allows its staff’s children to learn about working life

Qatar Charity (QC) dedicated the last Thursday to allow its staff’s children to learn about working life through the ‘Little Employee’, an initiative launched by Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation.

Qatar Charity, under the supervision of its Al Khor Centre for Community Development, organized an interactive day, as part of the ‘Little Employee’.

The activities that were held under the initiative allowed the children to put the puzzle together to make Qatar Charity’s logo. Accordingly, they came to know about the various type of humanitarian work carried out by Qatar Charity.

QCDC’s initiative offers students (aged 9 to 15) a hands-on experience to learn what working life is actually like. The program requires students to help their parents or relatives at their workplace for one day.

The children spent working hours with their parents, learning about the value of work and the basic concepts of a professional life.

“Qatar Charity welcomed this initiative, the first of its kind in the Arab world,” said Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Hajri, Director of Programs and Community Development Department at Qatar Charity. He added that Qatar Charity supported the initiative, because of its belief in the important role of the child in shaping the future, in addition to helping them plan their future careers and get acquainted with the nature of the work of their parents within Qatar Charity.

Dr. Rania Sawalhi, senior career development specialist at QCDC, said that the idea of the initiative was developed this year, and the first Arabic version was launched in Qatar, as well as in many other countries.

Dr. Rania added that Qatar Charity’s participation in the initiative was very important to QCDC to make students aware that work is not only done for money, but it also has humanitarian dimensions. She also thanked Qatar Charity for the significant support.

The children and parents also welcomed the ‘Little Employee’, that allowed the participants to know the nature of their parents’ work.

“I involved my son in performing my daily tasks and overcoming work-related difficulties,” said Dr. Abdul Majeed Hamidi, health expert at Qatar Charity, indicating that it was an opportunity for the child to understand the reality of work.
