IBN KHALDUN CENTER FOR HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES AT QATAR UNIVERSITY ISSUES A NEW SCIENTIFIC STUDY

Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences at Qatar University has completed the preparation of a scientific study entitled: Scenarios of the Post-Khamenei Iranian Regime - A Reading of Models and Options, with the participation of a group of researchers, and the version is currently available on the center’s website.

This study comes in the context of "accompaniment", which is one of the strategic pillars of the Ibn Khaldun Center. Accompaniment means "the relentless pursuit of knowledge and development of reality", in harmony with the rest of the center's strategic frameworks of renewal, culture, bridging and localization. The Center will not be able to achieve any of these frameworks without accurate knowledge of reality, but accurate knowledge of reality is not always easy, due to the multiplicity of factors in making reality, the different trends and ideologies of those who address the reading of reality, and the diversity of tools of consideration and analysis; Therefore, we will not, in this case, hope to obtain a single reading of the same reality, as much as we hope to have readings that converge and diverge with the convergence and divergence of the intellectual trends of researchers and research methods that they adopt.

But when "reading the reality" is hoped to be an initial step towards "predicting" what might happen in the "future", things become more complicated and difficult. The difference between the natural sciences whose owners speak confidently and boldly about the future of the phenomena they study, and the human and social sciences whose owners only have to speak with caution, due to the fluidity of the phenomena they are researching, and the large number of possibilities and variables they face.

With regard to this study, it derives its importance from the growing importance of the Iranian actor in the international system in general and the regional system in particular. What observers are seeing at the current stage is the issue of the upcoming shift in the position of supreme leader of the revolution, and the ensuing entitlements, especially in the local and regional scenes.
