Housing Minister signs MoU with Chinese counterpart

Beijing, Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and Ni Hong, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of exchanging technical expertise in social housing. The MoU comes within the framework of the minister's official visit to China. The MoU is a part of the strategic Belt and Road initiative, which aims to exchange expertise and cooperation in multiple housing fields, including the use of smart construction methods, energy-efficient building materials, and the provision of the latest security and safety standards and technical and engineering standards in housing projects. It also includes the exchange of knowledge in real estate market regulation and the private sector's initiatives in providing social housing projects, reconstructing old residential projects and buildings, and managing residential communities. The minister said that the MoU will c ontribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise in housing in a manner that aligns with the ministry's plan to provide housing services to citizens. She highlighted the successful visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to China last May, which resulted in signing MoUs and Memorandums of cooperation in various developmental domains. For his part, Hong commended the Kingdom's growing urban development, particularly in social housing. He affirmed the commitment to enhance cooperation and exchange visits to develop bilateral relations in a manner that enriches housing policies and plans in both countries. During the meeting, the Bahraini delegation reviewed the ministry's key initiatives and programmes in providing housing services to citizens, and the investment opportunities in the field of providing housing services in the Kingdom, particularly for real estate developers through the Government Land Development Rights programme in partnership with the private sector.
