H.E. Sheikha Reem Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s EBRAZ proves his class once again with a Gr3 PA victory

Eight-year-old EBRAZ (GB) (Amer x Massamarie) carried the colours of his owner Her Excellency Sheikha Reem Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani to victory for the 18th time when taking the Group 3 Coupe de Sud-Ouest des Pur-Sang Arabes at La Teste De Buch on Tuesday 6 of July, only 30 minutes following the Her Excellency Sheikha Yasmeen Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani-owned MON’NIA’s Gr 2 victory at the same course.

The seven-time Group 1 winner EBRAZ is trained by Julian Smart and was ridden to victory, in the 1900m contest for four-year-old and older Purebred Arabians, by Maxime Guyon.

Having broken on terms with the field, EBRAZ was quickly positioned towards the rear of the peloton by Guyon. With a strong pace being set up front, EBRAZ was about eight lengths off the leader as the field left the back straight, but was still travelling with a lot of purpose. Turning for home, Guyon slipstreamed Al Shaqab Racing’s KHATAAB (FR) (Amer x Djelana) as the pair made ground on the outside of the field. Still with over three lengths to find 200m from home, EBRAZ produced a phenomenal effort to get the better of Al Shaqab Racing’s MOUNJARED AL CHAM (FR) (Azadi x Al Moutawakila) and went on to score by ¾ of a length, claiming his second win in the race. MOUNJARED AL CHAM took the second place for trainer Thomas Fourcy and jockey Olivier Peslier while the other Thomas Fourcy’s trainee KHATAAB was further ¾ of a length behind to finish third under Jerome Cabre.

Bred by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Thani, EBRAZ is by the most successful Arabian sire AMER (Wafi) and along with EBRAZ, dam MASSAMARIE (Tidjani) has produced multiple Group 1 winners, including RAAHAH (Asraa Min Albarq) winner of the Group 1 Qatar Arabian Trophy des Juments in 2020, MARED AL SHARA (Amer) winner of the Group 1 H.H. The Amir Sword and MU’AZZAZ (Amer) winner of the Group 1 Dubai International Stakes at Newbury.
