The General Directorate of the General Security began this morning the organization of the voluntary return of some 330 Syrians in Lebanon who had previously registered before the agency for their repatriation via the Zamrani-Arsal and Qaa border crossings.

The General Security is keen on ensuring a safe return for them,” the officer in charge of the repatriation process in Arsal told the National News Agency.

Acting Director General of the General Security, Major General Elias Baissari, who is currently in Egypt, has given the necessary instructions to care for the returnees and facilitate their return to Syria.

In a phone call with NNA, Baissari said that “this convoy constitutes a new beginning of a long course that requires an official sponsorship, in addition to follow-up and communication with the Syrian side and the UNHCR.”
