The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the joint initiative offered by Saudi Arabia and the United States to start the pre-negotiation discussions between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SFA) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that were held on Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi praised the efforts and endeavors being exerted by Saudi Arabia and US with all parties to lay the essential foundation for dialogue and reduce the tension to ensure security and stability of Sudan and its people, in pursuit of facilitating the access of humanitarian aid.
He hoped that these talks would lead to a political solution that safeguards unity and cohesion of the state institutions, and achieves the aspirations of Sudanese people in security, peace, stability and development.
The GCC states support peace and always seek to safeguard regional and international security and peace, he underlined.
