Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), visited the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) headquarters.
The secretary general was received by Dima Al Yahya, Secretary General of the Organisation.
Albudaiwi said that the DCO plays an important role in Saudi Arabia, in employing technology to reach digital economies that serve the goals of sustainable development, and highlight the importance of digital development in enabling countries to keep pace with the rapid growth of the digital economy.
He stressed the importance of digital cooperation between the GCC and the DCO, which contributes to serving common interests.
Albudaiwi highlighted the importance of digital development to enable countries to keep pace with the rapid growth of the digital economy, through the advancement, innovation, and the development of strategies and programmes to strengthen digital development with new and promising opportunities.
The secretary general pointed out that the directives of the Supreme Council of the GCC, issued in its 41st session held in January 2021, to strengthen the existing cooperation and partnership relations between the Cooperation Council and countries, regional organisations and active international organisations, and to complete the implementation of joint action plans.
Albudaiwi said that the two sides agreed to move forward in holding a number of events that will be jointly coordinated with regard to digital cooperation, indicating that the youth and women’s sectors will have a greater share in this cooperation.
He praised the great efforts and attention dedicated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this field in general, and the Organisation’s efforts, in particular, to continue encouraging digital and economic cooperation between countries of the world, and to benefit from the opportunities of digitisation to achieve its social goals, accelerate the comprehensive growth of the global digital economy and achieve digital prosperity for all, in cooperation with the experts in the comprehensive system, wishing them further progress and prosperity, in a way that enables digital prosperity for all by accelerating the comprehensive growth of the digital economy.
