Foreign Minister participates in GCC-US joint ministerial meeting

New York, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the joint ministerial meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States of America on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting was co-chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, and Antony Blinken, United States Secretary of State.

Jassim Mohammed Albudaiwi, GCC Secretary General, was present.

The meeting discussed ways to promote cooperation and strategic partnership between the GCC countries and the US in various fields, and to further develop joint coordination to meet the aspirations of both sides.

The ministers also reviewed regional and international developments and ways to intensify cooperation to address various challenges that threaten regional and international peace and security.

e meeting discussed the latest developments in the region, including the escalation of the war on Gaza, and the intensity of the conflict. It also reviewed Arab and international efforts at all levels aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire, protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure, securing the release of hostages and detainees, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief to the civilian population, and advancing peace efforts in the Middle East.

Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahraini Ambassador to US, and Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Director General of Bilateral Relations, attended the meeting.
