The delegation led by Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva was welcomed by Rashid Mohamed Al Shariqi, ADFCA’s Director General and a number of executive directors and directors and was briefed on the Authority’s various initiatives and activities including raising the bar on food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Authority’s efforts towards the conservation of natural resources, water in particular, and the improvement in livestock management and the veterinary services were highlighted at the meeting.
The delegation was also briefed on the efforts at optimizing the use of irrigation water in farming as well as other sustainability measures. The delegation appreciated ADFCA’s success in ensuring food safety and agricultural sustainability across the emirate.
The visiting FAO officials expressed the organization’s interest in expanding cooperation with ADFCA as a one the region’s pioneering food safety authorities.
