Eurozone Unemployment Recedes to 11.5 per cent

Luxembourg, July 31 (QNA) – Unemployment in the Eurozone receded to 11.5 per cent in June, reaching its lowest point in almost two years, data released on Thursday showed.

The 18-country currency bloc has pulled out of recession, but had struggled to make a significant dent in unemployment since that indicator reached a record 12 per cent last year.

June’s seasonally adjusted rate was down from 11.6 per cent in May and the lowest seen since September 2012, according to the European Union’s statistics agency, Eurostat, dpa reported.

Analysts had expected the rate to remain unchanged.

June saw a total of 18.412 million people out of work in the Eurozone – 152,000 less than the month before.(QNA)
