EU Council Bans Goods from Crimea

Luxembourg, June 23 (QNA) – The EU Council decided to ban imports from the Crimea region to the Eurozone, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said Monday.

The decision was part of the EU’s objection to the separation of Crimea from Ukrainian based on a memorandum organized by the Russian authorities in the region. Russian news agency Itar-Tass reported today that the decision was part of “the strategy for non-recognition of Crimea’s accession to Russia.” It is also part of the EU sanctions imposed by Russia.

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius also said today that the EU Council agreed the deployment of a police mission to Ukraine for the term of two years. (QNA)
