Emirates World Heart Group launches humanitarian missions in Sudan, Egypt and Bosnia

WAM Abu Dhabi, Jan 17th, 2013 (WAM) — The Emirates World Heart Group has launched its humanitarian missions in Sudan, Egypt and Bosnia to provide treatment to needy heart patients particularly children and the elderly people.

A group of world renowned heart surgeons along side Emirati specialists of the field will perform heart surgeries in collaboration with Health ministries and university hospitals in these countries with the coordination of World Heart Foundation under the framework of the Humanitarian Giving Initiative.

According to chief executive of the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital and head of the Emirates Mobile Cardiology Centre Dr Adel Al-Shamri, the campaign aims to provide the best diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventive services for heart patients in addition to organizing a series of meetings and training courses to develop the skills of medical staff working in the field in these countries.

He added that the Group has introduced latest technology for carrying out heart surgery in many countries in the first of its kind experience to enable heart patients to benefit from new technologies in a cardiac surgery, besides imparting surgeons the knowledge by equipping them with new skills according to the latest international standards.

He added that the current campaign comes as a completion for the humanitarian missions that have been carried out in many countries benefiting thousands of heart patients particularly children and the elderly people. More than 3000 heart surgeries have been conducted in the UAE, Morocco, Kenya, Eritrea, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Indonesia, Tanzania, Pakistan, Somalia, Egypt, Sudan and Bosnia.
