Emirates Foundation accepts applications for 4th round of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Higher Education Grant

WAM Abu Dhabi, Jan 6th, 2013 (WAM) — The Emirates Foundation for Youth Development today announced the launch of the fourth round of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Higher Education Grant for select graduates from Zayed University’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.

The five-year programme, instituted in May 2011, aims to enhance the UAE efforts in building a strong knowledge-based economy. The program offers students, who have graduated from prestigious universities from around the UAE and overseas, grants to obtain Masters or PhD to further their education in high-priority academic fields such as Education, Social Studies, Tourism, Science, Museum and Curatorial studies, Health Care , Public Administration and Engineering.

Chief Operating Officer at Emirates Foundation, Mohanna Al Muhairi, stated: “The grant programme heads our priorities as a foundation, and stems from our belief in the importance of supporting the Emirati youth, contributing to develop their knowledge, nurturing talent and creativity, and enabling students who wish to pursue further education to achieve their goals and aspirations.” On his part, the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at Zayed University, Dr. Jeffrey Belnap highlighted the importance of including student’s qualifications and skills, which they obtained through various activities at Campuses or in the Community in their applications, confirming that the scholarships are awarded to academically exceptional students.

The local grants cover tuition fees for students studying at selected universities in the UAE, whereas for overseas, it covers tuition fees plus travel and living allowances.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 and above along with an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent are required for applying into a master’s degree or PhD studies in 2013, via the Emirates Foundation website(www.emiratesfoundation.ae) from Jan 6 to Feb 6 2013.

In addition to holding a degree from Zayed University, the applicants should have been accepted by or in the process of enrolling into one of the universities within the UAE, or the world’s top 200 universities that are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Since the programme’s launch in May 2011, a total of 32 outstanding Zayed University graduates have been supported by the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Higher Education Grant to continue their studies.
