Doha: Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) has concluded an event on the principles of peaceful coexistence of various religious groups in Islam.
The event was held in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and other universities participating in the initiative to boost dialogue across universities.
Hosted by HBKU, the event brought together 25 students from five local universities – Qatar University, Doha University of Science and Technology, HBKU, Community College of Qatar (CCQ), and Lusail University.
The participants presented their countries experiences in coexistence among various religious and cultural groups.
The second in the initiative’s activities, this event aimed to promote a culture of dialogue and understanding among university students from different religious and cultural backgrounds.
The first event was held at Qatar University in mid-September and sought to establish a culture of interfaith dialogue among scientific cadres.
HE DICID Chairman, Dr.
Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi said the event bolsters the principles of religious coexistence among students. He added it is part of the DICID’s interest in youth to enable future generations to understand the importance of dialogue and coexistence in diverse societies.
Among the speakers was Dean of HBKU’s College of Islamic Studies, Dr. Recep ?entrk, who addressed the concept of coexistence in Islamic civilization.
The third event of the initiative is due on Oct. 15 at the CCQ and will focus on interfaith dialogue foundations and community and cultural communication.
