Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, US Secretary of State Confirm Strength of Bilateral Ties

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman and HE US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stressed the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said, in joint press remarks with the US Secretary of State, that his visit to Washington was a great opportunity to continue the ongoing discussions between the two countries, especially in light of the unprecedented challenges facing the world.

He added that the two sides will meet face to face to discuss many of the global challenges, adding that the two sides look forward to discussing bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, in addition to regional security issues.

His Excellency wished the American football team well when they play in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

For his part, the US Secretary of State welcomed HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs' visit to Washington. He said that the two sides spent a lot of time together over the past year and half, whether in personal meeting or over the phone, something that reflected the depth and strength of ties between the State of Qatar and the US.

Blinken stressed that the State of Qatar is a Non-NATO Ally and trusted partner of the United States in many of the most challenging issues that need to be dealt with, not just in the region, but all over the world as well.

He added that the two sides will have a lot to talk about, as is always the case, on issues like regional security and working on developing joint investments and trade between both sides.

His Excellency described ties between the two peoples as very strong, adding that he looks forward to Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the coming few months.
