DEFENSE MINISTER MEETS JAPANESE AMBASSADOR

Caretaker Minister of National Defense, Maurice Sleem, welcomed, at his ministry office on Tuesday, the Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon Masayuki Magoshi, who came on a protocol visit. The pair reportedly discussed the latest developments and the bilateral relations. During the meeting, the Japanese Ambassador voiced concerns about the latest developments at Lebanon’s southern border, stressing the importance of the country’s stability, given its impact on the overall situation in the Middle East. He also reiterated Japan’s deep interest in bolstering ties with Lebanon in various fields. For his part, Minister Sleem underlined that Israel’s acts are a flagrant violation of the international resolutions and a continuity of hostility against Lebanon’s sovereignty and rights. He added that the army is fully assuming its duty to preserve the nation’s sovereignty and protect borders in collaboration with the UNIFIL.
