Civil Service and Government Development Bureau President: Qatar Government Excellence Award Creates Resilient Government Sector

HE President of Civil Service and Government Development Bureau Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa affirmed Wednesday that Qatar Government Excellence Award established by Amiri Decision No. 63 of 2023 issued by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Wednesday aims to build a flexible government sector that maintains the quality of performance and achieve the highest standards of quality, development, organizational and administrative modernization, and improves performance in various government agencies.

Al Khalifa highlighted the State of Qatar’s relentless, solid and systematic government excellence efforts to achieve the highest levels of excellence in all aspects, indicating that the Qatar Government Excellence Award focuses on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the government sector and services.

The award seeks to enhance government services provided to customers to suit the needs of the Qatari society and qualify human cadres that meet the needs of the future and have the appropriate skills and capabilities, His Excellency added.

Al Khalifa noted that the award would make data management and technology among the basic pillars of institutional excellence, support innovation, and create a culture of excellence and competition among employees in various entities.

Based on the Amiri decision, the Award’s Committee of Trustees will be formed under the chairmanship of the President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, and representatives of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, Ministries of Finance, Environment, Climate Change, Communications and Information Technology, Civil Service Bureau and Government Development, State Audit Bureau, Planning and Statistics Authority, Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, Government Communications Office and Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council.

The Committee sets the necessary standards, foundations, instructions, procedures, the time plan for the award, defines its categories and levels, identifies the participating parties and panelists. It also approves and announces the results of the award, develops a media plan for the award and follows up on its implementation, and proposes its annual financial allocations.

Al Khalifa added that the award enhances transparency and accountability; improves cooperation and decision-making process, risk management, strategic planning and partnership development; and provides support for human capital to motivate employees and improve their performance.

The award will provide the private sector with an improved business environment and enhance competitiveness and increase constructive cooperation, His Excellency added. (QNA)
