China Warns against Crossing Red Line on Taiwan Issue

Beijing, The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that US arms sales to Taiwan severely violate the one-China principle. Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference that "no country, organization or individual should dream of crossing the red line on the Taiwan question without paying a price", adding that US arms sales to Taiwan strongly violate the one-China principle and the three joint statements between China and the United States, interfere in China's internal affairs, and undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Beijing has taken countermeasures in accordance with the law against a US arms trading company and its executives involved in the arms sales to Taiwan, the spokesperson added. Ning stressed that the Taiwan issue is at the heart of China's basic interests and is the first red line that cannot be crossed, adding that "no country, organization or individual should underestimate the strong determination, firm will and strong ability of the Chinese government and the C hinese people to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity". The issue of the island of Taiwan, located in East Asia off the coast of China, is one of the most sensitive issues for Beijing, which considers it an integral part of its territory, and rejects any secessionist attempt or action aimed at its independence from Beijing's authority.
