Manama, Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Fetais Al Hajri, the Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Board, commended His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s royal decree pardoning 1,584 inmates, marking His Majesty’s Silver Jubilee and on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.
This initiative reflects His Majesty the King’s commitment to upholding human dignity and fostering societal cohesion, and shall positively impact the beneficiaries upon their release, he said.
Dr. Al Hajri emphasised that His Majesty the King’s royal directives, such as alternative sentencing laws and open prison programmes, reflect a commitment to human rights values.
The royal pardon balances punishment with humanitarian considerations, serving the community’s interests and aligning with Islamic principles to strengthen family bonds and foster societal unity and harmony, Dr. Al Hajri added.
Dr. Al Hajri also highlighted that His Majesty’s vision consistently focuses on advancing the comprehensive development process initiated under His Majesty’s
reign, that prioritises the welfare and interests of his people.
