The UAE-Kazakhstan Joint Consular Committee convenes virtually for third session

The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of the Kazakhstan Joint Consular Committee convened for its session in sustained efforts to advance and consolidate cooperation between the two friendly countries in all joint consular affairs and services to care for and serve their citizens.

The session was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Majed Ali Al Mansoori, Director of the Foreign Nationals Affairs Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), and His Excellency Bauyrzhan Akatayev, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

H.E. Dr. Majed Al Mansoori conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and his praise of the strong bilateral relations between the two countries in the consular field and his wishes of success for the meeting.

H.E. Dr. Majed Al Mansoori stressed the importance of cooperation in the consular field and its role in advancing and bolstering bilateral relations between the two countries. He praising the positive developments achieved during this year in terms of bilateral consular relations despite the challenges resulting from the global Covid-19 pandemic and thanked both sides for efforts exerted to provide outstanding consular services and facilitate the movement of citizens of the two countries.

H.E. Bauyrzhan Akatayev praised the leading position the UAE holds at the regional and international levels, and its pivotal economic and commercial role, and stressed that his country seeks to bolster consular cooperation to serve the citizens of both friendly countries.

During the meeting, Al Mansoori affirmed the UAE's keenness on bolstering and developing relations between the two countries, reflecting the aspirations and orientations of the high leadership. He added that bilateral relations between UAE and Kazakhstan have witnessed qualitative shifts in various fields from energy to investment and trade, and scientific and technical space discovery, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.

For his part, Akatayev praised the development of bilateral relations between the two countries over the past years, especially in the field of consular cooperation and particularly during the global Covid-19 crisis. She praised the experience of the UAE, which boasts one of the pioneering experiences in this field, stressing that her country aspires to develop cooperation and exchange experiences with the UAE in this area, to the benefit of the citizens of both countries, and to strengthen bilateral ties between the two friendly countries.

The meeting was attended by representatives from various departments at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Justice, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Republic Kazakhstan, who tackled a number of consular subjects of joint interest.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed attends GCC’s Ministerial Council meeting in Riyadh

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, participated in the 152nd Ministerial Council meeting for the 42nd session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), held at the GCC’s General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the GCC.

The meeting was chaired by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, with the participation of Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf, Secretary-General of the GCC.

The Council reviewed joint Gulf action and developments at the regional and international levels, as well as the efforts made by the working committees.

In a statement, the Council offered sincere condolonces to the UAE leadership, government and people on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, and praised his role in strengthening the march of the GCC, as well as his efforts in serving Arab and Islamic causes to achieve regional and global peace.

The Council also congratulated His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as UAE President, expressing confidence in his abilities to enhance the UAE’s commitment to support the GCC’s march to achieve its goals and maintain its security, in order to preserve the stability and prosperity of the GCC countries and their peoples.

Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State; and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, attended the meeting alongside Sheikh Abdullah.

Assistant Foreign Minister Meets European Commissioner for Crisis Management

HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met on Thursday with HE European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic.

During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union, especially in the field of providing aid, in addition to the latest developments in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and the African Sahel region.

The meeting was attended by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki.

BERRI MEETS WITH IRAQI MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND QATARI AMBASSADOR, RECEIVES CONGRATULATORY CABLES ON HIS RE-ELECTION

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday welcomed at his Ain al-Tineh residence Iraqi Minister of Justice, Salar Abdul Sattar, in the presence of Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon, Haidar al-Barrak.

After the visit, Minister Abdul Sattar said, “The meeting was an occasion to discuss many common issues between the two brotherly countries,” adding that it was also an occasion to congratulate Berri on his reelection as House Speaker.

Berri also welcomed Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Sahlawi, with whom he discussed the general situation, as well as bilateral relations between Lebanon and Qatar.

Berri then met with the Lebanese Army’s Director of Intelligence, Brigadier General Tony Kahwagi. He also received MP Dr. Ghassan Skaf, with whom he discussed general developments, in addition to legislative affairs.

On the other hand, Berri received congratulatory letters and phone calls on his re-election as House Speaker from the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, former President Michel Sleiman, former PM Tammam Salam, religious scholar Sayyed Ali Fadlallah, Nabatieh Imam scholar Sheikh Abd al-Hussein Sadiq.

Berri also received a congratulatory cable from Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, and Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Dr. Ahmed Bahr.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with Russian Foreign Minister

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, on the sidelines of the joint ministerial meeting between the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the Russian Federation, held today in Riyadh.

During the meeting, they reviewed relations of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to support and develop them, as well as the latest regional and international developments, especially the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its repercussions on global food security and the energy market.

During the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s readiness to contribute to every international and regional effort to find an immediate peaceful solution to this crisis.

He also affirmed Qatar’s position and commitment to the United Nations Charter and the well-established principles of international law, including obligations under the Charter to settle international disputes through peaceful means, refraining from threatening or use of force, adherence to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states, rejection and condemnation of everything that contradicts that.

HE the Deputy Prime Minister stressed the need to ensure the safety of civilians and consider this a top priority.

Assistant Foreign Minister Meets Head of Foreign Affairs Committee of Belgian Parliament

HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met Wednesday with HE Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Belgian Parliament Els Van Hoof.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, especially in the field of humanitarian aid, the role of women in politics, the issue of exempting Qatari citizens from the Schengen visa, the efforts made by the State of Qatar in the field of sustainable stadiums, and the emphasis on the power of sport in bringing people together, in addition to discussing the latest developments in Ukraine.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium Khalid bin Fahd Al Hajri attended the meeting.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed receives president of Liberia

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today received President of Liberia, George Weah, at Qasr Al Shati’, where the African leader conveyed his condolences over the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and recalled the track record of the late president and his role in the comprehensive development drive in the UAE.

He also congratulated H.H. Sheikh Mohamed on his election as the UAE President and his wishes of sustained progress and development to the Emirates.

The Liberian president expressed his country’s keenness to expand cooperation with the UAE during the next stage through constructive partnerships that benefit from the country’s development model.

Sheikh Mohamed expressed his thanks and appreciation to president Weah for the sincere feelings over the death of the late Sheikh Khalifa and toward the UAE leadership and people.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, H.H.
