At Least 15 People Were Killed In A Stampede in Kinshasa

Cape Town, May 12 (QNA) – At least 15 people were killed in a stampede during a football match in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital, Kinshasa, local broadcaster Radio Okapi reported Monday.

Twenty-one people were injured during Sunday’s match between local teams V. club from Kinshasa and TP Mazembe from south-eastern Lubumbashiich at the Tata Raphael stadium, Interior Minister Andre Kimbuta said.

After TP Mazembe scored the first goal towards the end of the match, V. club fans pelted the field with stones, forcing the referee to interrupt the game several times.

When police moved in with teargas, panic broke out in the crowded stadium, causing a wall to collapse.(QNA)
