Arab Mnisters Approve Kuwait As Capital of Arab Culture for 2022

Tunis, Arab culture ministers approved Thursday the choice of Kuwait as the capital of Arab culture for 2022.

In its final communique, the 20th conference of Arab Culture Ministers also okayed the Arab award for cultural innovation entitled the "Arab award for the creative youth", in addition to choosing Lebanese singer Fairouz as a model of Arab culture for 2017.

The participants called on the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), in coordination with Arab countries, and international and regional organizations and bodies, to highlight the role of culture in countering terrorism.

They also urged all these organizations to disseminate moderation to be in invested in education, media and culture.

The conferees endorsed that the Arabic Manuscripts Day, to be celebrated April 4 every year.

They called for enacting laws and legislations, and taking all required measures to serve and develop Arab culture.

Qatar's delegation to the meeting was led by Faleh Al Ajlan Al Hajri, Advisor to the Minister of Culture and Sport.
