Arab Economic and Social Council to Hold Its 94th Session in Cairo Thursday

Cairo, September 10 (QNA) – The Arab economic and social affairs ministers will hold their 94th session at the Arab League headquarters on Thursday.

The meeting will focus on enhancing pan-Arab economic and social action.

The senior officials of economic and social affairs in the member states held a preparatory meeting Wednesday to set the ministerial meetings agenda and draft resolutions.

“The main issue on the agenda of Thursday’s meeting will be Arab trade zone and Arab customs union,” Assistant Arab League Secretary General for Economic Affairs Mohammad Al-Tuwaijri said following the senior officials’ meeting.

“The officials have also prepared draft resolutions to give impetus to pan-Arab investments.” He added that the ministerial council will also discuss the economic impacts of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, especially the recent Israeli devastating war on Gaza Strip.

On the social agenda of the ministerial council meeting, Assistant Arab League Secretary General for Social Affairs Faeqa Saleh said the ministers will review the proposed social agenda of the upcoming Arab Summit, to be held in Egypt in March 2015.(QNA)
