Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, MAGOSHI Masayuki, attended the hand-over ceremony of an essential medical equipment to Lebanese Hospital – Geitaoui University Medical Center, which was supported by the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program (GGP).
The hospital, located in Ashrafieh, Beirut, and which was greatly damaged by the Beirut port explosion in 2020, plays a pivotal role in the Lebanese healthcare sector. Considering the significant number of patients who rely on this hospital, as well as the increasing demand for efficient and sustainable medical services, Japan supported the hospital through the provision of an advanced ultrasound machine that will enhance the hospital’s capacity to carry out more accurate examinations for various diseases. This assistance will help more than 2,000 patients annually access essential medical services at affordable rates.
In his speech, Ambassador MAGOSHI highlighted Japan’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s health sector amidst socio-economic chall
enges. In return, Sis. Hadia Abi Chebri, General Director of the hospital, expressed her appreciation to the dedicated support from Japan which willenable the hospital to provide quality health care and respond to the urgent needs of patients.
