Al Hitmi Re-elected as 1st Vice President of International Gymnastics Federation

Doha: Ali Al Hitmi was re-elected Friday as the First Vice President of the International Gymnastics Federation during elections held on the sidelines of the 85th Congress of the International Gymnastics Federation, which began yesterday, Thursday, and concludes tomorrow, Saturday. More than 500 officials from national gymnastics federations representing 157 countries. The event was attended by Morinari Watanabe, who was also re-elected as the President of the International Gymnastics Federation.

Ali Al Hitmi received 84 votes, compared to 33 votes for his closest competitor.

In a special statement to Qatar News Agency , Al Hitmi expressed his happiness with the distinguished organizational success of the 85th Congress meetings in Doha. He attributed this success to the great efforts of officials from the Qatar Olympic Committee, led by HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain as well as
all the relevant departments that supported the organizational process. These efforts contributed to the widespread praise from all participants from around the world, who highlighted Qatars great capabilities in organizing large-scale meetings, conferences, and major sports championships.

Al Hitmi added that the Qatar Gymnastics Federation consistently works to elevate Qatars name in international sports forums and actively contribute to ensuring Qatar’s presence in all regional and international sports events, across administrative, organizational, and athletic aspects. He emphasized Qatars role in promoting gymnastics and enhancing its prominence.

He also pointed out that the Doha Congress is an international meeting of the sports leaders from all over the world to discuss the future of gymnastics and its global development. This Congress is the largest in terms of the number of participating countries, which underscores Qatars prestigious position on the international stage. He also noted that Qatar is
working hard to develop gymnastics, attract talents, and build a strong foundation for this sport. He emphasized that Qatar is capable of achieving excellence in gymnastics, as well as in all other sports, thanks to those in charge of the countrys sports sector.
