A DELEGATION FROM THE OMANI SHIP “SHABAB OMAN II” VISITS THE QU CAMPUS

Coinciding with the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, Qatar University (QU) welcomed a delegation of students participating in the Gulf voyage of the ‘Shabab Oman II’ ship, during their stop in Qatar.

This visit of the Royal Navy of Oman ship ‘Shabab Oman II’ to the State of Qatar, comes as part of the representation of the Sultanate of Oman at Expo 2020 Dubai under the title ‘Oman, a Renewed Approach.’ This ship departed from Muscat and will stop in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries according to a specific path, over the course of a month, starting in the port of Shuwaikh in the State of Kuwait and ending at the tourist port of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The delegation was received by: Dr. Hassan Al-Derham, President of QU, Dr. Khaled Al-Khater, Vice President for Administration and Financial Affairs, Dr. Eiman Mostafawi, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Diab, Associate Vice President for Student Life and Services, and Mr. Abdullah Al Mulla, Director of Student Activities Department, and a number of members of the university community. This cruise included 30 male and female students representing a number of European and Gulf universities and the delegation accompanying him.

Upon arriving at Hamad Port the delegations tour of Qatar started at QU, its first scheduled stop, to get acquainted with the university campus and its facilities. The university also arranged a bus tour for the team, to get them acquainted with the research centers and colleges that the university includes under its umbrella, the tour concluded in the QU Sports and Event Complex.

Dr. Eiman Mustafawi, Vice President for Student Affairs, welcomed the delegation of ‘Shabab Oman II’ at QU and assured them, in their reception, the keenness of the University to consolidate relations and joint cooperation between QU and international educational institutions. She also noted QU’s keenness to support young people at the local, regional and international levels in an effort to achieve youth development and discover comprehensive educational opportunities that will achieve knowledge integration in all sectors and fields.

In addition to the visit program, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Qatar invited a group of students from QU to visit the second ship during its docking at Hamad Port to learn about the various programs it provides for young people in the field of sailing, astronomy, teamwork, and to inform them of the achievements of this trip.

This visit comes as an affirmation of the depth of the strong relations between the two brotherly countries and within the framework of the continuous cooperation between them and educational bodies and institutions to enhance the continuous exchange of experiences between the two countries in the educational, academic and cultural fields and to raise the academic level in the interest of the two brotherly countries.
