6.6-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Argentina

An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck on Monday the province of Neuquen, in northwest Argentina.

The US Geological Survey said in a statement that the epicenter of the quake occurred 25 kilometers from Loncopue in the province, at a depth of 171.4 kilometers.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage.

On Wednesday, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck the San Antonio de los Cobres area in Salta Province in Argentina, at a depth of 196.6 kilometers.
