An earthquake measuring 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit East Sepik province in Papua New Guinea.
The epicenter of the quake occurred 27 km north of Ambunti town, at a depth of 61.4 km, US Geological Survey reported.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the quake so far.
Papa New Guinea is located in the so-called Ring of Fire, a region that extends along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, which is characterized by high seismic and volcanic activity. In February 2018, a devastating earthquake hit the region, killing at least 100 people and causing landslides that buried dozens of villages.
