5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits off Coast of Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit northwest of Luwuk, on the Indonesian coast.

The US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 10 km.

So far, there have been no reports of material or human losses due to the earthquake and no warnings have been issued of the possibility of a tsunami.

Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes, as it is located on the Pacific belt known as the "Ring of Fire", where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
