1 Dead, 6 Missing in China Mine Roof Collapse

Beijing, July 31 (QNA) – A roof collapse in a deserted mine in southwest China killed one person and left another six missing, local authorities said Thursday.

According to China’s new agency (Xinhua), the accident happened at coal mine in Kaiyang County, Guizhou Province, where 11 workers were sent to repair the drainage system in the abandoned pit. The mine’s roof suddenly fell, trapping all the workers.

Rescue workers managed to pull out five people out of the collapsed site, with one dead and two injured, according to the local government. The conditions of the other six remain unclear. (QNA)
