Beijing, China's exports in yuan-denominated terms rose 15.9 percent year on year in January, while imports increased 25.2 percent, official data showed Friday.
Foreign trade volume reached 2.18 trillion yuan (about 482.2 billion U.S. dollars) in January, up 19.6 percent year on year, according to Xinhua news agency.
Exports rose to US$182.8 billion in January. Imports also exceeded expectations, rising 16.7 percent year-on-year to US$131.4 billion, while the trade surplus climbed to US$51.3 billion, beating estimates by more than $2 billion.
