Arab-South American Countries Start Their 3rd Meeting

Riyadh, April 30 (QNA) -The Ministers of culture in the arab and south american countries stressed their commitment to the principles and common goals of the ministries of culture in the Arab countries and South American countries seeking to implement common cultural plans and programs between the two sides guaranteeing a larger area of interaction between the peoples of the Arab countries and the countries of South America and promoting cultural cooperation, human development and international understanding.

HE Qatari Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari led qatar’s delegation to the meeting. He said that Saudi Arabia is expected to have a fruitful role in deepening Arab culture and cooperation with South American countries, especially as the kingdom hosts the meeting. He also added that Saudi Arabia’s spiritual status should reflect on cooperation with world countries and have a growing role in inter-civilization and inter-religious dialogue.

The ministers also discussed during the meeting of cultural cooperation between cultural institutions of the Arab countries and South American countries and work to hold cultural agreements and invite the two regions to ratify the Convention on the UNESCO and the emphasis on support for the work done by the Arab-South American Library and the Research Center ‘BIBLIASTA’ and call for implementing its mechanisms and following it up.

   The conferees also decided to hold joint ministerial meeting of the two groups after three years 2017 and assigned the Secretariat general in coordination with the countries of South America to determine the state that will host the meeting.(MORE)
